When I think of something that represents “half” to me, it surely is this book. First of all, the title represents the two metaphorical halves of life Tolstoy divides his narrative into. Secondly, the book is just about half written in French in addition to the original Russian. And finally, as this picture shows, it is the book that I am perpetually half way through. At least, that’s about where I’ve been for the last two years. This is one half I hope someday to finish!
